The On the Road to Literacy Conference is a day-long event to be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the Malcolm X College Conference Center at 1900 W. Jackson. Beginning at 9:00 am and concluding by 3 pm, the event offers two main sessions, a choice of three lunchtime discussions, and three rounds of workshops at 9:45 am, 10:45 am, and 12:45 pm.
The audience of the On the Road to Literacy Conference is a mix of tutors, adult learners, and hands-on staff from adult volunteer literacy programs. Overall conference attendance is expected to be around 175 and workshop attendance to be 25-30 each. Attendance at workshops is often a mix of those three groups, however, if a workshop is geared more towards one or the other, it can be noted as such in the program. Workshops are 50 minutes in length and are presented in classrooms; all are equipped with a white boards, an LCD projector, and a computer.
While this low-cost, low-budget conference does not have the funds to pay honoraria, we provide your complimentary registration which includes a continental breakfast and a box lunch.
