Literacy Advocates: We know the work your learners are doing takes courage, persistence, and commitment.

Every day, adult learners show up, often balancing work, family, and other responsibilities, to build new skills and create new opportunities for themselves and their families. Their progress may not always be visible to the wider world, but we see it in their effort, their growth, and their determination.

Take this opportunity to recognize that journey by nominating one or more learners for the June C. Porter Student of the Year Award. The award will be presented at the 32nd On the Road to Literacy Conference, to be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Malcolm X College Conference Center.

Nominations are easy to complete. Simply describe how your learner has demonstrated persistence, growth, or commitment in their learning. This may include progress in reading, writing, English language learning, math, digital skills, or other areas that have made a meaningful difference in their life.

Nominations will be reviewed by individuals familiar with adult literacy and learner achievement.

  • All nominees will be recognized at the conference and in a commemorative program.
  • Selected learners will receive a certificate and small gift.
  • The Student of the Year will receive a framed certificate and special recognition.
  • Conference registration is complimentary for all nominees.

We thank you for the care and support you provide to learners in your community and for the role you play in making these achievements possible. We look forward to celebrating together on April 18th.

Please submit nominations by Wednesday, April 10, 2026. Note: A Google account is required.
