The Body Matters in the ESL Classroom | Galina Khartulari

Join us as we walk through the changes experienced by our language learners’ physical bodies as they adjust to their new homes, employment, school, and language.

We will explore simple everyday cultural adaptions and bodily challenges that may prevent learners from continuing in our programs, even when we feel we are offering them a variety of resources and opportunities.

The presentation is based on classroom encounters, students’ accounts, student interviews during the intake process and enrollment into the Adult Literacy program, stories shared by instructors and tutors, and teachers’ observations.
